The cable grommet should be pressed through the bulkhead before installation which must include a tight fit against the bulkhead to avoid water entry into the passenger compartment. Adjusting of the shift cable occurs following its installation. Set the range selector lever to position (D) while attaching a weight of three pounds to it.
