For cable-operated mirrors, detach the control lever from the instrument panel or door and connect a string or thin wire to the control cable. Take away any holding clips, screws, and the mirror. Pull out the control cable from this door. The mirror screws are reachable from the outside on some models. Tie down the string or wire to the control end of new cable/mirror assembly, fix back this mirror with screws in place, and secure a cable. For electric mirrors, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Pry off the mirror access hole cover, remove the nuts, detach it from a door, and unplug an electrical connector. These actions are performed in reverse order during the installation.
