You must detach the battery ground cable as the initial step for brake light switch maintenance and repair. Start by removing the left-hand instrument panel insulator through the removal of its pin-type retainers followed by disconnecting the courtesy lamp. Proceed by disconnecting the Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch electrical connector followed by removal of the BPP switch after removing its self-locking pin and detaching it from the brake master cylinder push rod alongside the brake master cylinder push rod spacer and bushing. You should perform the installation by reversing all steps from removal. After battery disconnect and reconnect the vehicle will show unusual drive symptoms while it adapts its strategy so you must drive it continually for at least 16 km (10 mi) or more.
