How to service and repair the shift cable on Lincoln LS?

In order to service the shift cable, lift the vehicle and unconnect the shift cable to the selection lever and bracket. To rest it on the exhaust remove heat shield bolts. Next, remove the shift cable and bracket using the bolts. These steps can be reversed to install the new components.
