Lincoln Mark LT Thermostat Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the thermostat on a 5.4L (3V) engine on Lincoln Mark LT?
A: Service operations of the 5.4L (3V) engine thermostat start with draining all coolant from the engine cooling system. The next step requires removal of the air cleaner intake pipe. Service of the thermostat housing demands clamp release followed by upper radiator hose detachment from the housing. Read the instructions to remove the thermostat housing bolts followed by removing the housing before tightening it to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) upon completion. The service requires removing both the thermostat and O-ring seal together before discarding the previous rubber ring. Follow the removal steps in reverse order to install the components while using a lubricated new O-ring seal for the installation. Bleeding and filling the cooling system marks the conclusion of the service procedures.
