The removal process for Engine Control Module starts with using the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) procedure to retrieve configuration data because PCM installation does not involve new keys or key programming steps. Start by taking out the cowl panel grille followed by breaking the connections of the three PCM wires. Two nuts securing the PCM must be removed before taking out the module. Position the PCM before fastening it with two nuts which need to be tightened to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). Install the cowl panel grille after reconnection of the PCM electrical connectors. The PMI procedure should be followed to restore module configuration after which the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) needs to be reprogrammed through the Parameter Reset procedure.
