Lincoln MKS Knock Sensor is one of the most critical components, which defines the dependability and power of the Lincoln MKS series. This piezoelectric sensor which is well known for its accurate operation identifies engine knock - a problem, which might be caused by incorrect setting of the ignition or fuel quality and makes the Lincoln MKS to run at an optimal manner. The Knock Sensor operates in a manner such that it translates the mechanical oscillations from the engine into electrical signals after which it conveys with the power train control module (PCM) whereby ignition time is adjusted as per the real-time in order to avoid risks to the engine. This alone goes a long way in improving not only the performance of the Lincoln MKS but its life span as well thus being a reliable car with a luxury touch to the sedan market. Designed for many of the MKS models manufactured between 2008 and 2016, the Lincoln MKS Knock Sensor is vital in responding to changed operational circumstances and fuel kinds to optimize performance and security. To achieve these, the sensor enhances engine response and at the same time guards against the occurrence of knock related problems something that makes this sensor unique in the automotive industry. Moreover, the interior of the Lincoln MKS is luxurious, and the safety system has also been improved, and all of it is supported by a Knock Sensor. Due to the performance and safety factors Lincoln incorporated in the MKS Knock Sensor, it is invaluable gear in the entire Lincoln MKS luxury sedan market segment.

Lincoln MKS Knock Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the Knock Sensor (KS) on Lincoln MKS?
    A:
Early built vehicles prior to May 18, 2009 use Motorcraft® Premium Gold Engine Coolant whereas vehicles built later than this date use Motorcraft® Specialty Green Engine Coolant; these two types must not be mixed as it will degrade corrosion protection and can damage engine components and cooling system components. The repair starts with removing the thermostat housing next to the removal of the lower Intake Manifold and coolant tube before discarding the O-ring seal. Start by disconnecting the KS electrical connector then remove the two securing bolts of the KS. Install the new KS by tightening bolts to 20 Nm (177 lb-in) and apply engine coolant to the O-ring seal before you finish installation by removing hardware in reverse order.
