How to service and repair the headlamp dimmer switch on Lincoln MKZ?

The first step for repairing or servicing the headlamp dimmer switch begins with removing the steering column opening cover that attaches through instrument panel tabs when you pull it straight outward. You should first press inward on both sides of the upper steering column shroud while lifting it upward before completely removing it from the assembly. Unlock the tilt lever then drain the shroud by taking out its three retaining screws. Finally pull the shroud off. Pull the electrical connector from the multifunction switch before removing its attaching screws to extract the switch. Install the system by doing the opposite of what was done during dismantling.
