How to service the accessory drive belt on Lincoln MKZ?

Start the service on the accessory drive belt by positioning the vehicle in NEUTRAL mode on a hoist. A suitable belt tensioner release tool enables you to turn the accessory drive belt tensioner clockwise until the generator pulley releases the belt. Initialize the procedure by removing the 4 screws that allow you to set aside the RH fender splash shield. Then separate the RH splash shield by removing its 6 pin-type retainers. The vehicle maintenance technician should remove the accessory drive belt from below the vehicle. The new accessory drive belt must be seated correctly across all pulleys except the generator pulley when installing it. The belt tensioner release tool should be used from the top position to rotate the tensioner clockwise before installing the belt onto the generator pulley. Putting the 6 pin-type retainers in place on the RH splash shield should be the next step followed by fender splash shield installation using 4 screws.
