Service of the thermostat housing requires the engine cooling system to drain first. A disconnect of the upper radiator hose from the thermostat housing becomes necessary during housing maintenance. The service of the thermostat housing starts with removing two housing bolts and the replacement of the thermostat as well as the O-ring seal discarding. The installation requires torquing bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). When installing the housing begin by checking the mating surfaces then reverse the removal process. The installation requires application of metal surface prep following packaging instructions for sealing surfaces before adding a fresh O-ring seal.
