Draining the engine cooling system must be the first step before servicing thermostat housing. If servicing the housing then the first step requires disconnecting the upper radiator hose from the thermostat housing. The service requires removing two bolts which keep both the thermostat and housing in place. You should discard the O-ring seal during this step. The product instructions should guide the technician through cleaning and preparing mating surfaces by using metal surface prep and silicone gasket remover. You should use new ultimate parts that include a thermostat with downward-facing spring and new O-ring seal during installation. Tighten the two thermostat housing bolts with your hands until they are even before your final tightening should be at 10 Nm (89 lb-in). The installation ends with performing the reverse actions of removal until complete.
