First discard the shock absorber lower bolt and flag nut before compressing the shock absorber with tie straps in its compressed state. Use caution to pull the shock absorber and bracket assembly along with its bolts through the space between trailing arm and coil spring. Proceed by marking the shock absorber to the bracket before removing and discarding the shock absorber upper bolt and nut. This action separates the shock absorber from the bracket. During the installation process transfer the recorded index mark from the original shock absorber onto the newly installed one. Install a new shock absorber upper bolt and nut to the bracket at first but keep it loose. Secure the shock absorber upper nut at 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs.) with precise alignment of the index marks to achieve an 118-degree angle from the bracket alignment tab center line. Place the shock absorber and bracket together before installing three bracket bolts which should get tightened to 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.). Do not fully torque the shock absorber lower nut until reaching the bushing fastener tightening position on the suspension. Then install the new shock absorber lower bolt and flag nut while keeping the suspension at the proper position for torque tightening to 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.). Finally, reinstall the upper arm.
