How to service and repair the Trunk Latch on Lincoln Zephyr?

The first step for servicing the luggage compartment lid latch requires removal of 12 pin-type retainers and the luggage compartment lid trim panel. Separate the luggage compartment lock cylinder actuating cable from the lock cylinder while also disconnecting the electrical connector of the latch. The 3 nuts holding the luggage compartment lid latch must be removed before servicing. The new latch installation requires users to first secure the nuts with a torque of 9 Nm (80 lb-in) before applying the reverse order of removal steps to finish installing the latch.
