How to service and repair the evaporator core on Mercury Cougar?

You must start the evaporator core service process by taking out the heater/evaporator core housing followed by dismantling the blower motor/evaporator housing from the heater/evaporator housing through bolt removal together with rubber seal elimination and nut removal and cover removal. Proceed by unclipping the vacuum hose before disconnecting all housing parts until you can access the evaporator. System operation should be checked after following the installation steps which include the reverse order of removal procedures. New O-rings coated with refrigerant oil must be added and the gaskets on the new evaporator must be placed exactly as they were on the old evaporator.
