How to service and repair the front parking brake cable on Mercury Grand Marquis?

Begin frontal parking brake cable repair operations only after you fully release the parking brake control through the parking brake release handle. Switch off electrical power to the air suspension system by engaging the air suspension switch situated in the luggage compartment to the OFF position thus avoiding any unexpected changes in the air springs' pressure during hoisting or jacking or towing the vehicle. A hoisted vehicle requires a maintainer to pull down the brake adjuster clip and fully operate the parking brake control until locked. To lock the adjuster move the parking brake adjuster clip upward and let go of the parking brake control. First disconnect the LH parking brake rear cable together with the conduit from the front parking brake cable and conduit at the cable connector using the retaining tabs before removing the bracket retractor. Begin by disconnecting the parking brake cable bracket then lower the vehicle to access both the pin-type retainer along with the close out panel. Pull out both parking brake components from the parking brake control while pushing the conduit below the device. Then disconnect the front parking brake assembly entirely. Installation includes performing the removal steps in reverse order followed by appropriate adjustment of parking brake cable tension.
