Mercury Marauder Shift Interlock Solenoid Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Floor Shifter Shift Interlock Solenoid on Mercury Marauder?
    A:
Safety must be ensured through back up power supply depletion before servicing the brake shift interlock actuator on floor shifters. Disconnect the battery ground cable then wait one minute and disconnect any equipped auxiliary batteries. Start the work by taking out the instrument panel finish panel before disconnecting the electric connector. The first step involves lifting the console finish panel to take it out from the console and then pushing the shift handle bezel downwards to remove the TCS harness. To begin the process take out the shift handle by removing its retaining screws. Change the shift indicator bulb by lifting that bezel up then unclip the interlock cable housing and disconnect the cable. To remove the lower steering column opening finish panel, first set the parking brake release handle aside then detach the screw from its location while you pull the panel outward until all retaining clips free themselves. First remove five screws which secure the reinforcement of the lower steering column opening finish panel before moving to the four screws from the instrument panel reinforcement brace. After you remove the four nuts from the steering column you can lower it while disconnecting the shift lock actuator solenoid electrical connector. To start disassemble the interlock system remove the cover's two mounting bracket screws followed by lifting the solenoid from its position then detach the actuator and its cable. After completing the process the installation steps should be reversed for assembly.
