Empty the ground cable from the battery while waiting for at least one minute before removing any auxiliary batteries connected to the electrical system. Starting with screw removal from the lower steering column opening finish panel will expose the parking brake release handle for motion clearance. Afterward separate the screw from the panel and extend it outward to remove retaining clips. Within the next step you should unscrew the five holding screws that secure both the lower steering column opening finish panel reinforcement and the instrument panel reinforcement brace.
