How to Service the Fog Light Bulb on Mercury Mariner?

Before performing maintenance on the fog lamp bulb of the Mariner and Escape you must switch off both the headlamp switch and ignition switch. Every fog lamp contains gas under pressure therefore you must handle the bulb by its base to prevent personal injury because touching the glass envelope can cause the bulb to shatter. Remove the fog lamp bulb only right before bulb replacement install because any contamination will impact its performance. Place the vehicle with neutral settings on a hoist. To access the bulb you need to first remove four fender splash shield bolts while tightening them to 5 Nm (44 lb-in) before taking out the four pin-type retainers for setting the fender splash shield aside. Utilize pliers to disconnect the fog lamp electrical connector before using the pliers to pull both bulb tabs at once. This action will remove the bulb the bulb.
