Service of the air cleaner outlet pipe starts with disconnecting the crankcase vent tube and vacuum tube from the pipe while PZEV vehicles require the secondary air injection hose connection also. When servicing PZEV air cleaner outlet pipes it is also necessary to disconnect the secondary air injection hose from the air cleaner outlet pipe. The first step requires loosening the clamp that secures the air cleaner outlet pipe to the air cleaner. Reinstall it after tightening this clamp to 3 Nm (27 lb-in). The maintenance process starts first by releasing the clamp which secures the air cleaner outlet pipe towards the throttle body before removing the pipe itself. During reinstallation tighten the air cleaner outlet pipe connection to 5 Nm (44 lb-in). A proper finish to the installation requires the air cleaner outlet pipe to be tightened securely so unmetered air does not infiltrate the engine while following the removal steps in reverse order.
