The first step to remove and replace the parking brake cable is to reduce tension on its components. The three parking brake cable bracket bolts on the subframe must be removed prior to installation while torquing these bolts to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) during assembly. Release the intermediate cable from the body bracket after you disconnect it from the front cable at the cable-to-cable union. Before detaching the lines, first snap off the rear RH cable at the cable-to-cable union followed by detaching the LH rear cable from the intermediate cable at the conduit equalizer. Relevant installation steps require still reversing the removal process followed by checking the parking brake system's functioning correctly.
