How to Service and Repair the Shift Cable on Mercury Montego?

When repairing the selector lever cable, make sure that the vehicle is in neutral. Take away the air cleaner, center console and unplug the cable. Open the cable retainer, unscrew bolts and draw the cable through bulkhead. To install it, screw the cable, re-fit the components and remake the shift cable when necessary.
