How to service the thermostat housing on Mercury Monterey?

To maintain the thermostat housing, partly drain the cooling system, take out the air cleaner outlet duct and unplug the top radiator hose. Take out the housing bolts and dispose of the gasket. Reassemble using the tightening bolts of 8 Nm, and then 60 degrees, and fill the cooling system again.
