How to service and repair the ignition switch on Mercury Mountaineer?

The ignition switch may be repaired by disconnecting the battery ground, unscrewing the steering column cover and shrouds and unconnecting the ignition switch connector and disengaging locking tabs. To install the new switch, take the same steps in the reversed order not to remove the ignition lock cylinder at the same time to avoid any damage.
