How to service and repair the turn signal switch on Mercury Mountaineer?

Proceeding with service and repair of the turn signal switch starts with disconnecting the battery ground cable. First remove the two screws that fasten the steering column opening cover and after that remove the three screws which fasten upper and lower steering column shrouds. Remove the electrical connector from the multi-function switch by disconnecting it before unscrewing both the multi-function switch screws until you can remove the switch. After finishing the installation the technician must undo all steps used for removal. The process of changing these components must be done in separate steps given their capability to damage the steering column.
