How to Service and Repair the Front Shock Absorber on Mercury Mystique?

The first step to work on front suspension struts includes taking out the strut assembly with its attached spring. Take extreme caution when dealing with the spring because its high tension creates a potential risk of injury to your person. A proper coil spring compressor should be used for spring compression before the removal or installation of the strut and spring assembly. You should remove the thrust bearing retaining nut first after which you should proceed with taking out the top mount along with the thrust bearing and spring seat and spring and boot and finally the bump stop. The assembly process requires that the spring ends should push against the spring seats properly and follow all disassembly steps in reverse order to finish it.
