The Electronic Brake Control Module ABS Module repair process requires responsible brake fluid handling since its polyglycol ether and polyglycol components lead to eye irritation and surface damage of painted materials and plastics. An eye exposure requires immediate flushing with running water for 15 minutes followed by medical assistance for lasting irritation. Drinking water will help with ingestion followed by vomiting until you get medical assistance right away. Handle the ABS module with care due to electrical charges that threaten damage to electronic components. A new ABS module installation requires configuration using vehicle-specific as-built data and calibration procedure. First take out the hydraulic control unit (HCU) and follow by unscrewing the three ABS module screws and tighten them to 2 Nm (18 inch lbs.) during reinstallation. The new ABS module installation follows the reverse order of removal steps after the old module has been removed.

Turn the key to the OFF position and let the vehicle sit for 4 minutes without opening doors or pressing the brake pedal.
