The first step to fix a lower control arm in a wagon requires you to take out the spring. Start by taking off the nut and flag bolt along with the lower control arm then place used parts in the discard bin. Follow the opposite installation steps and replace the components with a new nut and flag bolt to finish the job. You should wait to tighten the control arm body nut until the ride height position during new spring installation. Suspension fasteners work directly with essential systems so replacing them needs new parts from the specified model number or its equivalent models. Follow the specified torque limits to maintain correct part retention of these parts.

It should not be tightened until the suspension is at ride height during spring installation.

Use a jack stand to raise the suspension until the distance between the center of the hub and the lip of the fender matches the previously measured curb height, then tighten the two bolts.

Tighten the lower control arm-to-spindle nut and the lower control arm-to-body nut to 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.), lower the suspension, and remove the jack stand.

Reverse the removal procedure, ensuring to use a new nut and flag bolt.

Remove the nut and flag bolt to detach the lower arm, discarding both the nut and flag bolt.

Ensure the offset faces up, with the arms stamped "BOTTOM" on the lower edge; the flanges of the rear lower control arm should face the front of the vehicle, while the flanges on the front control arms must face the rear.

Disengage the rear wheel speed sensor wiring clips and remove the bolt to detach the LH rear parking brake cable retainer from the arm.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, place it on a hoist.

Remove and discard the nut and flag bolt from the front lower control arm, followed by the removal of the front lower control arm and the adjusting cam.

Using a jack stand, raise the suspension until the distance between the center of the hub and the lip of the fender matches the initial measurement taken. Tighten the nut, then lower the suspension and remove the jack stand.

Using a jack stand, raise the suspension until the distance between the center of the hub and the lip of the fender matches the initial measurement taken.

Remove the nut, washer, and flag bolt to detach the lower control arm from the spindle, discarding the nut and flag bolt.

Reinstall the wheel and tire assembly and check the wheel alignment, making adjustments as necessary.
