    Q:
How to service and repair the battery cables on Ford Freestar? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service and repair operations for battery cables need battery disconnection as the first step. Begin the service by taking out the bussed electrical center terminal bolt before tightening it at 10 Nm (89 lb-in) when reinstalling. After you disconnect the battery proceed to remove both the 8 pin-type retainers and the radiator support sight shield. After removing the battery ground cable bolt proceed to tighten it to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft) when reinstalling it. Start service by removing the 3 battery cable locators which are attached to the battery cover along with roll restrictor bracket and the starter motor solenoid terminal cover. You should remove the starter motor solenoid battery cable nut and place the cable aside before reinstalling it at 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). When finishing the procedure work on the battery ground cable nut by putting it aside but maintain a tight 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) setting. To access the generator B+ cable boot the technician should remove the B+ cable nut while setting the boot to the side before securing it with 8 Nm torque during reinstallation. The generator B+ cable locators should be released before the battery cable assembly can be removed. The process ends by performing the reverse operations that were used for removal during installation.

How to service the battery cables on Mercury Monterey? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service of battery cables requires users to first disconnect the battery system. You must tighten the BEC terminal bolt to 10 Nm (89 lb-in) when replacing it. After that remove the 8 pin-type retainers along with the radiator support sight shield. The battery ground cable bolt needs removal while you should tighten it to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft) when installing. Remove the terminals of both battery cable locators from the battery cover and roll restrictor bracket before you uninstall the starter motor solenoid terminal cover. The starter motor solenoid battery cable needs its nut removed and cable placement before final tightening at 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). The battery ground cable nut should be removed while positioning the cable aside with a secure torque of 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) before reinstalling it. First remove the generator B+ cable nut after placing the cable aside and relocating the boot to reach the installation-tightened nut at 8 Nm (71 lb-in). Before removing the battery cable assembly, users must release three generator B+ cable locators. The process concludes when you perform the opposite of the removal steps while installing.
