A vehicle must be in NEUTRAL position while on a hoist before starting battery cable service. Start by disconnecting the battery and then loosen the nut that holds the ground cable terminal at the starter, fasten it to 22 Nm (16 lb-ft) when reinstalling. During installation of the starter solenoid positive cable terminal you should tighten the nut to 9 lb-ft (12 Nm). Retain the starter solenoid wire terminal with a wrench until reinstall where it should get tightened to 5 Nm (44 lb-in). Disconnect the two battery cable harness locators from A/C compressor mounting bolts before removing the bolt to position the battery ground cable-to-frame terminal aside for tightening to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft). The install process requires removal of generator harness terminal and CJB cable terminal nuts which should be placed aside and tightened to 9 Nm (80 lb-in). Take out the battery ground cable-to-cowl panel terminal bolt while placing it to the side and tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) during reinstall. After disconnecting the in-line electrical connector of the battery cable harness you should remove the battery cable assembly according to the installation procedure in reverse order.

A technician must begin battery cable servicing by turning off the battery power. First people need to remove the ground bolt from the negative cable at the cowl panel before disconnecting the positive cable terminal nut at the positive battery terminal junction. The engine cover installation requires releasing clips on the Navigator model. The first procedure is to disconnect the electrical connector from the battery cable harness followed by vehicle elevation. The two nuts need removal before you can detach the battery cable harness from its two support bracket studs. The starter motor solenoid terminal cover must come off while the starter motor connections require disconnection through battery ground cable removal by unfastening the nut followed by disconnection of the nut for starter solenoid cable and starter motor positive cable. Pull away the negative battery cable to frame bolt while carrying out the battery cable harness removal. The installation of new starter motor requires carrying out the reverse order of removal completion steps.
