Battery Cable

Start the battery cable service and repair by first disconnecting the battery then taking out the air cleaner assembly. The generator B+ terminal nut needs removal while you make sure to tighten it to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) during reapplied installation. The generator B+ terminal cable requires positioning to the side followed by removing the generator harness retainer. When installing the starter motor positive cable expose its nut by removing the starter solenoid terminal cover then tighten the nut to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). Detach the wire nut from the starter solenoid before securing it at 5 Nm (44 lb-in) when replacing the wire. Clear away the starter motor terminals while unfastening the battery ground cable bolt and later tighten it to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). First detach the pin-type retainers from left engine rear and the engine's front portion as well as its middle intake runners. Separate the clip retainers that fasten the engine at the right and left front positions. Install the left fenderwell body ground terminal bolt with a torque of 9 Nm (80 lb-in) before replacing it. Start by opening the BJB cover then remove its terminal nut and place the terminal to the side while tightening it to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) before reinstating. You must disconnect the BJB electrical connector and the retaining fasteners that hold the battery cables on the battery tray before taking off the battery cables. The installation process requires performing the reverse operations of the removal method.

The starter solenoid wire nut needs removal after securing it to 5 Nm (44 lb-in) for installation. Before battery ground cable removal you should position the starter terminals to the side then secure the transaxle bolt at 9 Nm (80 lb-in). The next step involves moving away the battery ground cable while also detaching the battery cable retainers that connect to the battery tray. Drop the cover from the BJB while extracting its terminal nut to be tightened at 8 Nm (71 lb-in) and place the terminal to the side. You need to disconnect the electrical connector of the BJB before removing the left fenderwell body ground terminal bolt which requires a 9 Nm (80 lb-in) torque when reinstalling it. In the last step finish the battery cable clearance with the vehicle after lifting the cable locators and taking out the battery cable connections.

Tighten it to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
