The brake caliper service and repair process starts with parking the vehicle in NEUTRAL position on a hoist. The brake caliper requires its clip removal before you loosen the brake caliper jounce hose at the caliper then you should retighten it to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) when reinstalling. The first step involves unwrapping the two brake caliper dust boot caps followed by removing the two brake caliper guide bolts which must be tightened to 35 Nm when using the disc-drum brake system and 45 Nm when using the four-wheel disc brake system during reassembly. Extract the brake caliper by stem-unthreading it from the brake caliper jounce hose while maintaining an untwisted hose position. The installation process ends through reverse implementation and system brake bleed procedure. Brake components will sustain permanent damage which leads to brake failure when using fluid other than the specific DOT 3 motor vehicle brake fluid that DOT has approved for use. Handle brake fluid with proper caution when performing tasks because contact with eyes or painted or plastic surfaces can be dangerous - any spills must be washed right away using water.

You must begin brake caliper service by taking out the disc brake caliper before setting it in a vise for fixing. Reinstall the bleeder screw after removing its cap by tightening it to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.). You should use brief bursts of moderate air pressure to avoid piston uncontrolled release while checking for brake caliper piston and bore damage from wear or corrosion or pitting; when necessary replace the caliper. A wood block needs placement between caliper housing and piston to secure the piston for compressed air application through the caliper jounce hose port. The removal of the dust boot requires an instrument made of plastic or wood for extracting the piston seal from the caliper bore while avoiding metal tools that could harm the seal groove. Clean brake fluid serves as a lubricant when the discrete assembly process begins with the reapplication of disassembly steps. One must only use DOT 3 approved brake fluid to protect brake components from permanent damage with extra caution needed to protect eyes and painted and plastic surfaces since brake fluid can be harmful.

Position a block of wood between the piston and the caliper, then apply compressed air.

Remove the front caliper slide pins and boots, and the dust seal.

Take off the brake caliper dust boot and the bleeder screw cap, then remove the bleeder screw.

Tighten them to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.) for a disc-drum brake system or 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.) for a 4-wheel disc brake system.

Disconnect and cap the brake line.

Reverse the removal procedure and bleed the brake system.

Ensure the vehicle is in neutral and positioned on a hoist.

Handle with care, avoiding contact with eyes, and wash hands thoroughly after use.

Take off the dust boot and carefully use a plastic or wooden pick to extract the piston seal from the caliper bore.
