Catalytic Converter, Passenger Side

Begin servicing the catalytic converter by disconnecting air suspension electrical power because air spring changes may result in unexpected vehicle movement while maintaining the converter. The sealing process starts after turning off the air suspension switch before lifting and supporting the vehicle. Users must disconnect both heated oxygen sensor and the catalyst monitor sensor electrical connectors. Developer the nuts first then follow with bolts and flag nuts to remove the catalytic converter while discarding the gasket along with other parts. Connectors of heated oxygen sensors and catalyst monitor sensors can be taken off if needed with thin anti-seize lubricant coating the sensor threads before assembly. After finishing the process follow the exact reverse sequence of steps used for removal.

Customers need to turn off electrical power to the air suspension system before catalytic converter servicing since unplanned air spring inflation or deflation could make the vehicle shift during operations. Place the vehicle at NEUTRAL gear position before setting the automobile on an overhead lifting service. Disconnect both Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) and Catalyst Monitor Sensor (CMS) electrical connector wires. The service begins by taking out catalyst-to-exhaust nuts then removing bolts from the converter-to-outlet pipe segment. Next, extract the flag nuts and damper before removing the converter itself. Discard all removed pieces including the bolts and flag nuts and gasket. The technician should remove both the Heated Oxygen Sensor and Catalyst Monitor Sensor when necessary. Before installing sensors you should apply a minimal layer of anti-seize lubricant to their thread surfaces. When cleaning the mating surfaces between the exhaust manifold and outlet pipe and catalytic converter always use new gaskets and fasteners. Secure the fasteners only once you have finished assembling the components starting with the vehicle front. The converter requires the correct seating by using alternating torque adjustments on the exhaust manifold to catalytic converter nuts together with the catalytic converter to inlet pipe bolts which helps evenly align the converter flanges. The reverse procedures should be used to finish the installation steps.
