Catalytic Converter, Front Driver Side

Service the catalytic converter during a cooldown period since its operating temperature near the catalytic converter reaches extremely high values. Replace the two upper catalytic converter-to-exhaust manifold bolts and gaskets that either service the front or rear unit by installing new gaskets which require 70 Nm (52 lb-ft) torque. Set the vehicle on a hoist at NEUTRAL gear position. The installation of front catalytic converter brackets requires unforgiving the bracket bolt followed by tightening to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft). Unplug the electrical connection of the catalyst monitor sensor. Remove and throw away both lower catalytic converter nuts before pulling out the front or rear catalytic converter. The catalytic converter installation process should include new gaskets along with alternative micronutrient applications to the catalyst converter nuts while maintaining exhaust system sealing and keeping exhaust flanges parallel until torque reaches 40 Nm (30 lb-ft). The front catalytic converter replacement requires checking the bracket clamp for replacement and installing proper torque at 40 Nm (30 lb-ft) on the clamp bolt. Prior to catalyst converter installation you need to apply anti-seize lubricant to the sensor threads before unscrewing the sensor and then tighten it to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft). Reverse the exhaust system removal procedure while using new gaskets and fasteners to clean the mating surfaces of the connections.

Remove and discard the 2 upper bolts and gasket, then install a new gasket.
