Begin service of the power steering cooler when you place the vehicle in NEUTRAL on a hoist. To empty power steering fluid, it is necessary to carefully undo the hose clamps on both cooler lines and detach their hoses into a proper receptacle. Complete the first step by taking out the power steering cooler after removing its two retaining bolts. The installation process requires following the reverse order of removal with a caution to reach 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.) torque on bolts before performing fluid addition to the power steering system. Protect the power steering system from external contaminants because they can hasten the breakdown of its parts.

Raising the vehicle and supporting it first will start the process of servicing the power steering cooler. The power steering gear-to-cooler hose requires disconnection by loosening its clamp to drain fluid into an appropriate container. After disconnecting the cooler-to-reservoir hose, you should loosen its clamp. Start the process by unfastening the bolts which secure the power steering cooler. Attach the gear-to-cooler hose to the top inlet position and the cooler-to-reservoir hose to the bottom outlet of the power steering cooler when reinstalling it. Perform a leak test after filling and purging the system before finishing with a reverse order of removal steps for proper operation verification.
