A proper service or repair of the Electronic Brake Control Module Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module begins with disconnecting the ground cable of the battery to safeguard against static electrical damage. In the following step remove the outlet pipe of the air cleaner while tightening its clamps to 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.) force before reinstalling the cover. Under this step detach the electrical connector of the MAF sensor to gain access to unfasten its retaining clips so you can set the air cleaner cover aside. When reinstalling the Hydraulic Control Unit bracket remove its three bolts while tightening them to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). Unplug the ABS module connector after removing its four retaining bolts secured by a torque of 2 Nm (18 inch lbs.). The process of installation requires an opposite sequence of step removal while new module programming should be performed if you replace the ABS module.

Remove the three HCU bracket-to-frame bolts, which should be tightened to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) during reinstallation.
