The service process of Electronic Brake Control Module and Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module requires removing the battery tray along with its bracket. First detach the wiring connector lock then take off the wires. After breaking the brake lines disconnect the bolts that fasten the ABS module and hydraulic control unit assembly. Remove the ABS control module by first taking out its screws followed by unfastening the bracket nuts. Reverse the uninstallation steps and complete brake system bleeding before restarting operation. Brake fluid damage to components occurs when using any fluid other than DOT 3 brake fluid since this will lead to permanent failure of brake components which disables the braking system. Handle brake fluid with caution while preventing both eyes and paint and plastic surfaces from contact and maintain reservoir fluid level with DOT 3 brake fluid to prevent the master cylinder from drying out during the bleeding process. Never reuse drained brake fluid.

You should begin Electronic Brake Control Module maintenance by taking out the battery tray to access the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module. The first step is to remove the wiring connector lock before unhooking all wires. First disconnect all brake lines followed by removing the bolts securing the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) /Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) assembly from its place. The wiring disconnect complete, proceed by unscrewing the ECU while you simultaneously loosen the bracket nuts. After reversing the uninstallation steps you must bleed your brake system. Only certified DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid should be used because any other type will harm brake components and disable the braking system permanently. Keep safety when handling brake fluid by staying away from eyes and painted or plastic surfaces also maintain a full reservoir of specified brake fluid at all times during brake bleeding operations. Never reuse drained brake fluid.

Avoid contact with brake fluid, wash hands thoroughly after handling, and protect painted or plastic surfaces from spills.

Remove the screws to take out the ECU.

Clean the area and remove the brake master cylinder filler cap, then fill the reservoir with approved DOT 3 brake fluid, ensuring it does not run dry during the process.

Brake fluid can damage painted or plastic surfaces; wash any spills with water immediately.

Have an assistant pump the brake pedal and maintain firm pressure while loosening the RH rear bleeder screw until a stream of clear, bubble-free brake fluid emerges, then tighten the screw.

Repeat the process as necessary, refilling the brake master cylinder reservoir, and then repeat the procedure for the left-hand (LH) rear bleeder screw, the RH front bleeder screw, and the LH front bleeder screw in that order.

Ensure the master cylinder reservoir remains filled with the specified brake fluid and never reuse fluid that has been drained from the hydraulic system.

Be cautious as brake fluid can damage painted or plastic surfaces; wash any spills with water immediately.

Connect the NGS DLC cable adapter to the vehicle data link connector (DLC) under the dash and use the Ford Service Function Card (FSF) to access the help menu on the scan tool for further instructions on bleeding.
