Heater Core

The first step to repair heater core and evaporator core housing involves recovering refrigerant before draining part of the cooling system. The instrument panel requires removal while strictly following particular disassembly steps. Keep to the exact sequence of component removal that the images present for you. A vacuum leak test should be performed first to detect an evaporator core leak while a heater core leak test should precede removal. The installation of new O-ring seals treated with PAG oil becomes mandatory before you reattach any fittings which were disconnected from the A/C system. A new receiver drier should be installed only when either contamination from a defective A/C compressor or substantial receiver drier damage occurs. The installation method should start by doing the reverse of removal steps while applying the right amount of clean PAG oil to the refrigerant system. After that, restore the engine coolant level before performing an evacuation, leak test and charging of the refrigerant system.

Start heater core and evaporator core housing servicing or repairs by getting rid of both components. Two screws must be removed that fasten the air inlet housing to the evaporator core housing before you can separate the housing from the core by releasing the retaining clip. The evaporator core housing wire harness needs disconnecting followed by placement of the harness aside. Start by removing the heater core and evaporator core cover through the removal of its 8 screws then take out the cover completely. Proceed to remove two screws which fasten the heater core tube bracket and then detach the bracket from its position. Extract the heater core then take out the dash panel seal before completion.

Take out the screws that secure the evaporator core housing to the air inlet housing.

Remove the cover itself.

Conduct a leak test on the heater core while it is still in the vehicle.

Reverse the steps taken during removal.

Only if there is evidence of contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the receiver drier.
