Suspension Crossmember, Rear

Service the rear cross-member only after you remove both rear springs and both rear lower control arms and the stabilizer bar. When installing the new bolts for the front lower arm inboard it is essential to tighten them to 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.). When operating on the upper arm inboard bolts discard them and tighten new bolts to 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.) while installing. You should apply either a tie strap to the wheel knuckle and trailing arm combination or select an appropriate holding device while supporting the exhaust system with a jack stand. Place the exhaust system on a suitable jack while you detach it from the crossmember exhaust hanger isolator. Replace the six crossmember bolts with new ones which you should tighten to 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs.) after positioning them correctly. Use the jack to lower it until you can remove the crossmember before performing the installation which requires following the previous removal steps in reverse order. Perform the required check and adjustment of rear toe before concluding the process.

Service and repair operations on the rear cross-member start by suppressing the stabilizer bar. Support the wheel knuckles first before breaking attachment of the rear lower arms then the front lower arms and upper arms. The exhaust system needs support to avoid damage so detach its bracket system. The evaporative emission canister needs removal in 3-door and 4-door models. Begin by placing the crossmember in the jack position then support it by a suitable transmission device before removing all three bolts that secure the system from each side before you can lower the crossmember for replacement steps. Find the proper placement for the crossmember before installing retaining bolts on each side by using three bolts. The exhaust system installation should follow the reinstallation of the evaporative emission canister for both 3-door and 4-door vehicle models. While adding the upper arms and front lower arms and rear lower arms to the suspension maintain its design height. The final step requires installing the stabilizer bar together with rear wheel alignment inspection to finish the repair.

Install the upper arms and attach them to the wheel knuckles without fully tightening the retaining bolts. Install the front lower arms, ensuring the mark on the rear lower arm adjustment cam aligns with the mark on the crossmember, and do not fully tighten the rear lower arm adjustment cam nut at this stage.

Lower the suspension from the design height setting, attach the stabilizer bar to the rear lower arms on both sides, install the springs, and check the rear wheel alignment.

Reattach the exhaust system to the crossmember exhaust hanger insulator and remove the axle stand.

Locate the crossmember with the transmission jack and secure it with three bolts on each side before removing the jack.

Ensure not to lower the suspension from the design height while installing the upper arms, front lower arms, and rear lower arms.
