Service and repairs on the brake master cylinder start with disconnecting the battery. The technician should remove the air cleaner assembly next. A suitable suction device should be used to drain the reservoir before you disconnect the brake pressure switch and brake fluid level switch electrical connectors. Protecting the brake tube from contamination requires you to cap it after separation from tube fittings while plugging master cylinder ports. Contract the two brake master cylinder nuts using 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs) torque during installation. The brake master cylinder removal requires the reverse order for installation with proper brake tube fitting torques set to 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs) and following brake system bleeding procedures. You must select DOT 3 motor vehicle brake fluid as its improper replacement leads to permanent brake damage and makes your vehicle unable to stop. After installation and removal of the brake master cylinder make sure to use 17 Nm (13 foot pounds) torque settings on brake tube fittings while immediately washing off brake fluid spills from painted and plastic surfaces with water.
