Exhaust Manifold, Driver Side

The first step for right-hand exhaust manifold service and repair requires disconnecting the battery ground cable. Start by taking off the cowl vent screen along with the cowl extension and then disconnect the Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Electrical connector. Remove first the exhaust manifold to Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve tube then the exhaust manifold heat shield by unbolt it. Detachment of the exhaust manifold from the catalytic converter starts by removing all bolts before extracting the right-hand exhaust manifold together with the exhaust manifold gasket which gets discarded. New exhaust manifold gaskets should be installed before fitting the exhaust manifold and following a two-step bolt-tightening procedure from 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.). Start by attaching the bolts of the catalytic converter and afterwards install and bolt the exhaust manifold heat shield. To complete the installation the technician must connect the exhaust manifold to the EGR valve tube and restore HO2S electronic wiring while reinstalling cowl vent screen and cowl extension prior to reconnecting the ground cable.

Position a new gasket and install the exhaust manifold, tightening the nuts in the specified sequence.

Reconnect the HO2S electrical connector and install the exhaust manifold to EGR valve tube.

Install the exhaust manifold heat shield and three bolts, tightening them to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs).

Remove the upper nuts and the exhaust manifold, discarding the gasket.

Disconnect and unclip the LH Heated Oxygen Sensor (H02S) electrical connector from the coolant tube, then raise and support the vehicle.

Install the exhaust manifold heat shield with its bolts.

Remove the cowl vent screen and cowl extension.

Install the exhaust manifold heat shield and its bolts, then the exhaust manifold to EGR valve tube.
