Starting work on the muffler and tailpipe requires users to disable the air suspension electrical power because unexpected air spring changes could move the vehicle while working. The vehicle should be in NEUTRAL gear when placing it on the hoist while removing the clamp. Enter the exhaust cutter properly to cut apart the muffler from the tailpipe. The insulator needs inspection for damage and wear so install a new one before separating it from the tailpipe. The muffler installation requires performing the inspection of its insulator before installing a new one if necessary. The installation process requires new exhaust fasteners but avoid tightening them until all components reach their correct position. Finish the installation task through fastener tightening according to specifications while drawing the flanges together evenly after following the reverse order of the removal process.

The first step for muffler and tailpipe service requires depowering the fire suppression system for safety reasons. Park the vehicle at NEUTRAL gear position on the hoist platform. Start by taking off the lateral rear suspension arms and rear coil springs followed by rear suspension lateral nuts and clamp retention. You should then detach the two nuts and clamp and tighten them to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.) when reinstalling them. Go through the isolator to check for damage and deterioration while conducting an immediate replacement if necessary. Separate the isolator. A precise turning motion of the muffler and tailpipe assembly counterclockwise against the rear axle will let you remove it with its attached isolator. New exhaust fasteners should be employed for installation but the tightening will occur after all components are positioned. The fasteners should be alternately tightened following specifications to achieve uniform drawing power on the flange connections. The vehicle owner needs to perform a repower operation on the fire suppression system after finishing installation work.

Complete the procedure by enabling the fire suppression system after repowering it.

Tighten them to 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
