Inlet Pipe

Start muffler and tailpipe service by hoisting the vehicle when it is in NEUTRAL gear. Place a suitable jackstand correctly under the muffler and tailpipe to provide support while ensuring exhaust system components avoid excessive bending or twisting and never letting the exhaust hang freely from its flexible pipe. Secure the catalytic converter using a separate jackstand during the work process. Release the ground clip attachment from the exhaust hanger before you accomplish the Torca® clamp nut hand tightness that needs to be set to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft) during installation. Soapy water should be used to carefully split 4 or 5 muffler and tailpipe isolators from the vehicle while avoiding damage or tears. Extract the muffler along with the tailpipe from the catalytic converter. During installation proceed in the reverse order using proper inspection techniques to replace any found damaged or torn isolators. Begin the engine to test for any exhaust leak after finishing the installation.

Install a new gasket and the 2 new exhaust flexible pipe-to-catalytic converter nuts, tightening to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft), reinstall the underbody shield and the 6 screws if equipped, and start the engine to check for exhaust leaks.

Support the catalytic converter with another jackstand.

Install the exhaust flexible pipe with a new gasket and the 2 new catalytic converter manifold-to-exhaust flexible pipe nuts, tightening to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
