Service of the muffler and tailpipe begins by fitting the vehicle onto a hoist in the NEUTRAL position. Position the vehicle slip on a hoist into NEUTRAL while you use a suitable jackstand to stabilize muffler and tailpipe. After that loosen the Torca® clamp nut. Reinstall the clamp while tightening it to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft). For muffler and tailpipe removal the isolators need careful attention to prevent breakage; applying soapy water will help detach the three isolators and extract the muffler and tailpipe assembly from the vehicle. The installation process requires the return of removal steps while replacing gaskets and nuts along with inspections for replacements of any damaged isolators. The engine start-up should be followed by exhaust leak testing.

Position the vehicle on a hoist with it in NEUTRAL.

Inspect for any damaged or torn isolators that need replacement.

Remove the two nuts connecting the exhaust Y-pipe to the left-hand catalytic converter and the two nuts connecting it to the right-hand catalytic converter, along with the Y-pipe itself, discarding the nuts and gaskets.
