Starting with a hoisted vehicle in NEUTRAL position service and repair professionals should begin the automatic transmission fluid filter operation. The drain plug should be removed for full fluid draining before reinstalling and tightening it to 29 Nm (21 lb-ft). Use a suitable tool to separate the bead of sealer while removing the transmission fluid pan by taking out its bolts. A metal surface cleaner must be used to completely remove silicone residue from the surfaces of the transmission fluid pan along with the transaxle case. During transmission fluid pan installation operatives should apply a 1-1/2 millimeter thick sealer bead onto the transaxle sealing surface but must never exceed this amount to avoid internal transaxle damage. Before clamping down the pan, use 7 Nm (62 lb-in) torque. Then add clean transmission fluid to the transaxle.

Service of the automatic transmission fluid filter begins with hoisting the vehicle into NEUTRAL position. After installation of the splash shield proceed to fill the transmission with clean automatic fluid.
