How to Service and Repair the In-Line Automatic Transmission Filter on Ford Ranger?

To change the transmission fluid in-line filter, the vehicle must be raised on hoist in neutral. Fit a new filter (where fitted); or fit a filter kit. Take off cooler line clips, lead ferrule connectors, and fit the filter. Reconnect fittings, clean the pan, fill with fluid and verify that it is leak free.

How to Service and Repair the In-Line Automatic Transmission Filter for the 5R55S Transmission on Ford Mustang?

The in-line fluid filter of the 5R55S transmission can be serviced by locating the vehicle in neutral on a hoist. Install a new filter when the filter is overhauled; otherwise, install a filter kit. Install the upper cooler hose and be sure that the bypass valve is oriented properly. Clamp it down, label the pan and be sure that it is not leaking.
