All seat belt subsystems need examination after collisions including retractors together with buckles as well as front seat belt buckle support assemblies (slide bar) and shoulder belt height adjusters and child safety seat tether attachments and attaching hardware. New belt assemblies require installation except when a certified technician verifies all equipment is operational along with displaying no signs of damage. From collisions the seat belt assemblies maintaining use should undergo examination while all uncovered assemblies need replacement in case they display damage or operational malfunctions. After every collision, testing of seat belt assemblies starts from retractors, then continues with the belt tension sensor (BTS) if equipped, followed by buckles and shoulder belt height adjusters if equipped, then child seat tether attachments and their attaching hardware. Replacement of new belt assemblies may only be omitted by a qualified technician who notes the assemblies without damage and proper function. Any assemblies which experienced no collision should receive inspection before new assemblies get installed unless damaged or operating improperly. Failure to follow this policy can elevate collision-related injuries. Disassembly of the front center seat belt starts with removing its cover, followed by removing the bolt to guide the belt through the seat. Install the bolt at 43 Nm (32 lb-ft) torque while maintaining seat belt webbing twisted free and placing the seat belt anchor above the seat bracket and keeping the seat belt within reach of the occupant. The active restraint system requires a function check as the final step.

Straighten the twisted belt webbing by grasping it at the safety belt guide.

Place the assembly on a flat surface in an open area, ensuring that moveable parts do not touch the support surface.
