Fuel Rail

The service of the fuel rail requires removal of the lower intake manifold first. You must disconnect the electrical connector of the fuel rail pressure and temperature sensor followed by disconnecting the vacuum assembly. The service requires you to disconnect four fuel rail bolts before installing them back at 10 Nm (89 lb-in) torque. First periodically detach the fuel rail from the lower intake manifold before separating it from the six fuel injector electrical connectors and the fuel charging wiring harness from the assembly. Remove the retaining clips while extracting all fuel injectors out of the fuel rail system. Replace the old O-ring seals with special fuel-resistant components because standard O-ring seals might create fuel leakages during operation. Never attempt to reuse O-ring seals in this application. After lubricating new O-ring seals with clean engine oil the technician should proceed with the reverse steps required to finish installation.

The presence of highly flammable mixtures in fuel-related components requires all personnel to ban smoking exposures in the area and abstain from using open flames because such practices can result in severe personal injuries. The fuel system uses high pressure when the engine is inactive so it becomes necessary to release this pressure before unattaching any fuel tubes or components. Start the process by taking out the lower intake manifold and afterwards disconnect the fuel rail pressure and temperature sensor electrical connection with the vacuum harness following. When reinstalling the bolts tightened to 10 Nm (89 lb-in) must be maintained. The first step involves detached fuel rail from the lower intake manifold then removing the six fuel injector electrical connectors before disconnecting the fuel charging wiring harness from the assembly. Use special fuel-resistant material to replace the retaining clips and fuel injectors from the fuel rail. Ordinal O-ring seals will result in leaks therefore dispose of them while using new fuel-resistant O-ring seals. Install the new O-ring seals by following the opposite order of the removal process and apply clean engine oil for lubrication.
