The procedure for windshield resealing starts with cowl panel grille removal and thereafter proceeding to remove left-hand (LH) and right-hand (RH) A-pillar trim panels, sun visors and optional overhead console. The front portion of the headliner descends next after extracting both LH and RH assist handles while securing it with proper materials. Clean the glass-to-urethane interface by using glass cleaner at the top and sides of the inner windshield area and also on the outside part at the bottom. The urethane adhesive should be cut into correct dimensions before using a high-ratio electric or battery-powered caulk gun with a continuous adhesive bead that avoids empty spaces. The technician should apply urethane adhesive first to the upper and lateral windshield areas from inside the vehicle and then to the lower section from outside. Check the urethane adhesive after it cures for at least one hour to ensure no air or water leaks along the adhesive bead but supplement the adhesive if needed. After urethane adhesive has cured you should reposition the front part of the headliner while also reinstalling the left-hand and right-hand assist handles and overhead console accessories with left-hand and right-hand sun visors and A-pillar trim panels and ending with the installation of the cowl panel grille. Apply glass cleaner to the windshield glass as well as its interior surface before cleaning it.
