    Q:
How to service and repair the parking brake shoes on Ford E-250? Posted by Customer
    A:
A proper service and repair of parking brake shoes demands that the parking brake control should be fully released before easing tension on the parking brake cable. The procedure for dual rear wheel vehicles consists of wheel hub removal during service but single rear wheels require brake disc uninstallation. The first step of service includes removing the park brake shoe adjusting screw along with the adjusting screw spring followed by all retainers and springs and pins. After placing the park brake shoes away from each other remove the brake shoes together with the retracting spring from the axle. Apply specified silicone grease on the parking brake shoe areas that touch the backing plate wear pad before installing the components. Position the retraction spring and place the parking brake shoe assembly on the axle before installing the two hold-down pins that need to be followed by two brake shoe hold-down springs and retainers. After putting in place the brake shoe adjusting screw spring it is time to position the brake shoe adjusting screw. After the proper adjustment follow the process. Installation of rear brake disc must proceed the wheel hub for vehicles with SRW. Load the parking brake cable tension to its final specification.
