Master Cylinder

The brake master cylinder repair starts with disconnecting the battery along with the brake fluid level warning switch electrical connector. A specific suction device should remove brake fluid from the brake master cylinder reservoir. While dealing with vehicles that have manual transmissions the technician should disconnect the clutch master cylinder feed hose then plug its port. During new brake master cylinder installation you should remove the brake fluid reservoir after disconnecting the two brake line fittings then use proper plugs on both ports before tightening them to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.). New master cylinder nuts need installation by replacing existing ones with fresh components before torquing to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.). The process for brake master cylinder assembly installation and removal begins with a procedure reversal for its components while bleeding the master cylinder and clutch master cylinder if present. Dealing with DOT 3 motor vehicle brake fluid demands approval since it protects brake components from permanent damage and users must avoid exposed eyes and painted or plastic surfaces while keeping spills under control through immediate water-based cleaning.

Disconnect the brake fluid level warning switch electrical connector.

Disconnect the brake outlet tubes from the brake master cylinder and cap the tubes.

Remove the brake master cylinder assembly, and to install the new unit, reverse the removal procedure, ensuring to bleed the master cylinder and, if applicable, bleed the clutch master cylinder.

Disconnect the brake fluid level warning switch electrical connector and use a suitable suction device to remove the brake fluid from the brake master cylinder reservoir.

Remove the four master cylinder nuts, tightening them to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.) during reinstallation.
