Heater Core

Prior to car removal it is essential to conduct a leak test when heater core leakage is suspected. The work starts by taking out the plenum chamber and proceeding to remove the screws and heater core cover. It is necessary to precisely cut the seal above the heater core inlet and outlet tubes for heater core extraction. Return the installation steps as the opposite of removal steps.

A leak test of the heater core should be conducted before removing it when a leak is suspected. The service process starts by removing the plenum chamber and proceeding with heater core cover screw removal. You should first remove the heater core followed by the seal and thereafter the cover. Repeat the installation procedures that were used to uninstall the system.

Service and repair operations on a heater core must start by draining part of the cooling system while maintaining the system at both safe cool temperatures along with normal inside pressure to protect workers from harm. Use a cooling system flusher per manufacturer instructions while connecting to the specific vehicle hook-up. Use the Motorcraft Cooling System Flush VC-1 or another product which satisfies Ford specification ESR-M14P7-A for backflushing operations. The heater core requires complete water flushing after utilizing VC-1 or its equivalent product before the cooling system refilling process begins. The procedure closes with filling the cooling system in its completion.

Take out the screws and the heater core cover, followed by removing the seal.

Remove the heater core.
